R.A. Dickey Throws Second Straight One-Hitter
Monday, June 18, 2012 at 11:01PM

New York Mets starting pitcher R.A. Dickey became the first MLB pitcher since the Toronto Blue Jays Dave Steibin 1988 to throw consecutive one-hittters on Monday night. With two outs in the top of the 5th inning, Balitmore Orioles third baseman Wilson Betemit singled to right field. Dickey struck out 13 batters, and in his last six starts, R.A. has struck out 63 batters. Dickey became MLB's first 11 game winner by improving his record to 11-1, with a 2.00 era. To this point for the month of June, R.A. has three complete games. The last National League pitcher to throw back to back one-hitters was the Boston Braves Jim Tobin, 68 years ago in 1944.
