Derek Jeter Fractures Ankle - Done for Playoffs

New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter fractured his ankle in the top of the 12th inning on Saturday night during the Yankees 6-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the ALCS.  Jeter, broke the ankle fielding a Jhonny Peralta ground ball and was carried off the field, putting no weight or pressure on his ankle.  Yankees manager Joe Girardi announced during his post game press conference that Jeter had in fact fractured his ankle and will miss the remainder of the 2012 baseball playoffs, however long that may be for the Yankees. Eduardo Nunez will replace Jeter on the Yankees post season roster.  Girardi during his press conference ruled out any speculation of whether Alex Rodriguez could move back and play his old position of shortstop.  Girardi informed the media that Nunez or Jayson Nix will play shortstop in Jeter's place.

Jeter may be down but you can’t count the Yankees out. Him going down after making 158 play-off games just might be what the Yankees need to put away the Tigers…..Extra Motivation…
