While August 8th marked the 36th anniversary of the Chicago White Sox wearing these ugly shorts in the first game of a doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals in 1976, the current SouthSiders team committed another fashion faux pas on Sunday when they decided to all wear absurd looking pants as they hit the team plane to embark on an eight-game road trip to Baltimore and Detroit. First baseman Paul Konerko, who donned a bright pink polo shirt with white and blue checkered pants and a fedora said, "I just went with the opposite of what I normally do."
I don't know if we're exactly pulling it off, but we're trying," said left-hander Chris Sale
Manager Robin Ventura said, "They enjoyed it a lot more that I thought they would."
The White Sox will be looking for their seventh straight win when they send the recently acquired Francisco Liriano to the mound to face Wei-Yin Chen and the O's on Monday night.
