Roger Bernadina Crashes into Wall On Catch

Washington Nationals left fielder Roger Bernadina crashed into the wall in left field while making a great catch to rob Jason Heyward of an extra base hit in the 5th inning of last nights game at Turner Field.

You don’t think about it,” Bernadina said. “You just go on instinct. I know I was pretty close. The only play I could make was to jump to get it. I had to keep us in the game.”

Bernadina absorbed the impact with his right shoulder and was shaken up on the play, but he stayed in the game and should be fine going forward.

The Braves won the game 2-1 in walk off fashion on an Ian Desmond throwing error in the 9th inning to preserve their lead for the first NL wild card spot.
