On Tuesday the Florida Panthers announced that they were laying off several employees because of the uncertainty over the 2012-13 NHL season being wiped out due to a lockout. The biggest name among the casualties, Stanley C. Panther, the team's mascot.
Stanley will be hitting the unemployment line after being with the team since they debuted as an expansion club in 1993. His first game was on October 12, 1993 at the Miami Arena.
We wish Stanley the best. Hopefully he gets back on his feet soon. We don't want to see him on the news getting arrested while trying to occupy Wall Street.
Below is a video of Stanley in happier times, on a boat to be exact, Lonely Island style.
