High school junior left-hander Jack Wheeless from Buchanan High in Clovis, CA threw his second consecutive no-hitter Wednesday night. This season Wheeless is 9-0 with a 0.37 ERA. Amazingly, It was also Wheeless' 3rd straight shutout performance in a row. The Junior has only allowed 26 hits in the 57 innings he has pitched. Jack is set to take the mound to go for his 3rd no-no in a row next Tuesday night.
When asked to explain his recent dominating outings, Wheeless told the Fresno Bee, “I don’t know, I’m doing the same thing since I was little — throw strikes, push through ’til the end and get it done." I think he has succeeded in getting it "done," his new nickname should be Johnny Vander Meer.
Thus far, Wheeless has led his Buchanan Bears (20-2-1, 7-1) to a number one ranking in their section, as well as a seventh place rank in the entire state of California. KMPH FOX 26 | Central San Joaquin Valley News Source
