Sorry Freedom, but it seems like ship has already sailed. This would have been funny a few months ago, but at this point it seems kinda lame. What's next? Harlem Shake night?

NBC Sports announcer Al Michaels was arrested over the weekend in Southern California on suspicion of drunken driving, authorities said Sunday.

Michaels was pulled over at about 9:30 p.m. Friday after officers manning a DUI checkpoint witnessed him make an illegal U-turn, Santa Monica police Sgt. Richard Lewis told NFL.com and the NFL Network.

Michaels, the play-by-play man for "Sunday Night Football," was taken to the station, where he registered a blood alcohol level over the .08 percent legal limit, according to Lewis.

He was booked for suspicion of DUI and held for about five hours before being released on his own recognizance, Lewis said.

"We are aware of the situation and we've been in contact with Al," a spokesman for NBC Sports said. "We have no further comment at this time."

A call Sunday by The Associated Press to Michaels' agent was not immediately returned.

Michaels was ordered to appear in court June 26.

An Emmy Award winner and broadcaster on "Sunday Night Football," the 68-year-old Michaels spent nearly three decades at ABC Sports before moving to NBC in 2007.

Michaels worked NFL games and other sports for ABC, and called "Monday Night Football" for nearly 20 years. He also is known for his call of the U.S.-Soviet Union "Miracle on Ice" game at the 1980 Winter Olympics and the earthquake-interrupted Game 3 of the 1989 World Series.

Last year he received the Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports Broadcasting.

You know Bob Costas just jizzed in his pants over this.  He is probably preparing his week one NFL pre-game speech regarding drinking and driving and Al Michaels.

Lauren Silberman became the first woman to tryout for NFL on Sunday.  Silberman is 28 years old and is trying out for the New York Jets as a place kicker.  In her first kickoff attempt, from the 35-yard line, the football traveled 19 yards.  Silberman's second attempt (above video), went just 13 yards.  Silberman aggravated her right quadriceps and was done after just those two kicks.  She had one more kickoff and five field goal attempts remaining for her tryout at the combine.  

Silberman paid the $275 fee to register for the tryout at a regional combine for the NY Jets in Florham Park, New Jersey.  The NFL allows anybody to register for the combines.

This dude, Ruben Foster, the nation's top inside linebacker recruit, chose to dress like Alabama coach Nick Saban to announce that he'll be playing for the Crimson Tide next year. Pretty funny idea.

Pretty cool that he decided to join the defending national champs, except for that whole thing about him already having an Auburn tattoo. And if that wasn't bad enough, he had the name of slain former Auburn football player Ladarious Phillips added to the Tattoo, but it was spelled wrong. It has since been fixed. Gotta get spell check next time dude. Or maybe just never get tatted ever again.

This Dude, wide receiver Stacy Coley, the No. 111 overall recruit, announced that he was attending Miami in typical "The U" fashion by breaking out a Swag hat in Hurricanes colors. Sick move, couldn't think of a better school to do that for.

Speaking of fashion, this dude, Myles Crosby, who has already been a model for Calvin Klein passed up the chance to make six figures a year to get his Derrick Zoolander on. He'll hit the gridiron at SMU as a defensive back next year instead. Not a bad decision to have to make. Lucky bastard.

And this dude, Alex Collins, a four-star running back recruit, was all set to announce he'd attend Arkansas, when his momma stole his National Letter of Intent because she wanted him to attend Miami. He then said his announcement would come at a later date, although reports are that he'll still be a Razorback. Momma don't play that shit.

As if his impending mega-deal to come back to the Ravens isn't enough, Joe Flacco added to his embarassment of riches on Sunday night when he was presented a 2014 Chevrolette Corvette Stingray for taking home the Super Bowl XLVII MVP Award.

This was the third stright year the MVP took home a Chevy. Last year, Eli Manning was presented Corvette Grand Sport and in 2011 Aaron Rogers took home a Camaro. Unfortunately for Drew Bress, no car was awarded to the Super Bowl XLIV MVP in 2010.

From 2004 to 2009 Cadillacs were given to the MVPs. Each year was a different version of the Escalade, except for 2005, when Deion Branch took home a XLR Caddy.

Just one year after the Empire State Building paid homage to the home-town Giants winning Super Bowl XLVI, the New York City skyscraper was lit up in Ravens purple on Sunday night much to the chagrin of Giants and Jets fans alike.

The Big Apple landmark served a real-time scoreboard and changed to Raven or 49ers colors after each touchdown while the Super Bowl was in progress. With Baltimore's 34-31 victory over the 49ers, the purple lights remained on until sunrise on Monday morning.

Cool idea, but why not hold off until next year's Super Bowl to do this? It makes a lot more sense to do this next year with the Super Bowl just 8 miles away at MetLife Stadium, than doing it this year with the game almost 1,500 miles away from NYC in New Orleans.

After a team scored a touchdown, the building displayed that team's colors.
