Nike signs Andre Agassi again

Nike announced on Monday that tennis legend Andre Agassi, the face of their tennis line during the 90s is official back with the company.

Agassi was know for his bright-colored sneakers and neon gear when he bust onto the scene. He undoubtedly had some of the best-selling and most fashionable tennis shoes of all time. The flair of Agassi's kicks made them desirable for kids to wear not only on the tennis courts, but on the streets. Besides the a few minutes when the Michael Chang Reebok Pumps were hot, Nike consistantly ran the tennis sneaker game with Agassi in the 90s.

Agassi is an eight-time Grand Slam champion who competed in 15 Grand Slam finals and a 1996 Olympic gold medalist.

David Luiz, a Brazillian who plays for Chelsea of the English Premier League nailed a 38-yard goal during Chelsea's match against Fulham on Wednesday. Thoroughly enjoyed the call in a language that I am unable to identify, except 36 seconds into the clip the announcer mentions the "Copacabana."

Beware of the Pine Marten! That is the furry creature that ran on FC Thun’s field during a match against Zurich, causing play to stop.

Pine martens are part of the Mustelidae family which also includes the weasel, badger, otter and mink. They are about the size of a domestic cat.

After the pine marten displayed some elusiveness that would have made Barry Sanders proud, Zurich defender Loris Benito was able to corral the critter in with a diving stab, only to be bit on the finger in the process.

"In hindsight, I was probably a little foolish," Benito told Swiss television at halftime of the game. "You don't know what sort of disease it might be carrying. It was painful."

Goalkeeper David da Costa, with the help of his gloves, was eventually able to get a hold of the pine marten and get it off the field for good. Zurich won the game 4-0.

Which New York Knick did Biggie Smalls rob?

Back in May, Jerry L. Barrow of The Urban Daily wrote this article in which he investigates who was the guy on the Knicks that had his girlfriend cheat on him with the Notorious B.I.G. before also getting robbed by Biggie according the song "Story To Tell" from BIG's classic 1997 album Life After Death. With Saturday marking the 15th anniversary of Biggie's passing, I figured now would be the perfect time to share Barrow's article with those who missed it.

As the story goes, according to Biggie, he was up in another dude's crib with another dude's girl while her boyfriend, who was on the Knicks played against the Jazz. When he returned home early, Biggie got creative and made it look like it was a robbery and he made off with guy's cash.

So who was the guy on the Knicks? Well, as Barrow points out, Life after Death came out on March 25, 1997 and was recorded between September of 1995 and January of 1997. The only time the Knicks played the Jazz at home during that span was on Nov. 12, 1995 and on Dec. 17, 1996, narrowing down the possibilities to the Knicks rosters from those two seasons.

Biggie also mentions that it was "One of them 6'5" n****as." Well, during that span the Knicks had Larry Johnson and Allen Houston, both listed at 6'6", both of who were on the 96-97 roster. But what about 6'5" players? They only had one. Hubert Davis. Davis played his last season in New York in 95-96, making him the most likely candidate. IF this was indeed a true story, it likely went down on Nov. 12, 1995.

That night, Davis scored four points in nine minutes off the bench as the Knicks topped the Jazz, 120-110 at Madison Square Garden. What happened to him after he left the Garden? Well, that remains up to your imagination.

Budweiser Being Sued For Watered Down Beer

The King of Beers has been watering down its famous brew, falling short of the promised alcohol content on the Budweiser label, according to three newly filed suits.

Anheuser-Busch InBev has also been cheating beer guzzlers by lowering the punch of Bud Light, Michelob, King Cobra and Michelob Ultra, the court papers say

“AB’s customers are overcharged for watered-down beer, and AB is unjustly enriched by the additional volume it can sell,” plaintiffs Thomas and Gerald Greenberg said in one of the complaints, Bloomberg News reported.

The label says Budweiser contains 5 percent alcohol, but the plaintiffs claim that Bud is delivering less than that, in violation of consumer-protection laws.

The complaints, filed in federal courts in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California, are seeking damages of about $5 million each.

But the final total “could be quite significant based on the volume of products that AB produces a year,” said Josh Boxer, lawyer for the California plaintiffs.

Boxer said that former Anheuser-Busch employees helped the plaintiffs figure out that the beer was being watered down.

A company spokesman called the allegations “completely false.” in an e-mailed statement.

“Our beers are in full compliance with all alcohol-labeling laws,” said Peter Kraemer, the company’s vice president of brewing. “We proudly adhere to the highest standards in brewing our beers, which have made them the best-selling in the US and the world.”

The flagship Budweiser brand was the No. 2 beer in the United States last year, while Bud Light was No. 1

In California, Nina Giampaoli and John Elbert of Sonoma County want class action status to include beer lovers nationwide who have bought the brewer’s products during the past five years.

Anheuser-Busch InBev is the world’s largest brewer, controlling 39 percent of the US beer market.

The suits come as the company is trying to get the government’s OK to complete the purchase of Grupo Modelo, Mexico’s largest beermaker, for $20.1 billion.

DC Comics To Kill Off Batman's Robin

Damian Wayne — the son of Bruce Wayne and the latest hero to assume the mantle of Robin — has a heart-to-heart with fellow superhero Nightwing before his final, and ultimately fatal, battle in the pages of “Batman Incorporated” No. 8, out Wednesday.

“He saves the world. He does his job as Robin,” writer Grant Morrison said. “He dies an absolute hero.”

Robin — a k a Damian Wayne, the 10-year-old son of Bruce Wayne — is slain fighting a hulking assassin who happens to be, in true comic-book form, a “brother” cloned from his genetic material.

And — SPOILER ALERT ! — unlike all the times he has swooped in at the last minute, Batman arrives too late to save his protégé.

A number of heroes have filled the role of Robin over the decades, including the first and best known, Dick Grayson, introduced in 1940.

The latest Robin, however, was the brilliant and caustic Damian, the illegitimate son of billionaire Bruce Wayne and Talia, the beautiful daughter of one of his deadliest enemies, Ra’s al Ghul.

Morrison, one of the industry’s top talents, brings an adult perspective to the grim tale.

Robin’s death, he said, will illustrate how parents lose sight of their kids when they fight.

“It’s all about the family and the family going to hell,” said Morrison, who threw in elements of his own parents’ divorce. “The two adults in the story are both culpable. The kid’s the good guy.”

Morrison, who brought Damian to the forefront in 2006, said he had created a full arc for the character, who grew from a violent, fledgling assassin to a selfless leader.

“What we did was turn this little monster into a superhero,” he said. “He’s a little brat, but he’s a super-brat.”

Damian isn’t the first Robin to die, but he’s the first to die at the height of his popularity with fans.

In 1988, a few years after Grayson moved on, the next Robin — the disliked, surly Jason Todd — was slain by the Joker after an infamous phone poll let fans choose whether the teen should be killed off.

Todd was resurrected in 2005.

So who knows if Damian will stay dead, or if a new Boy (or perhaps Girl) Wonder will take his place.

Ducks 'Schwings' available for accessorization

The above photo of an amazing Nike golf shoe with an Oregon logo and wings laced into it started making the rounds this weekend after a Ducks fan @TylerWelmon submitted the photo to @UniformSwag.

It seemed like one of the coolest possible ideas for a golf shoe, and after digging around a little I was able to determine that this combo wasn't solely Nike's doing. The Nike Zoom Trophy Oregon O Logo golf shoes actually don't come with the wings on them. "Schwings," as they are called, are sold separately. They are available in a few different colors, and can be purchased for $6.95 on Fanatics.com.

Maybe these will be seen on the hardwood or the gridiron in Eugene in the near future. With Oregon's knack for busting out outrageous uniforms, would anyone really be surprised?

A set of Schwings could definitely compliment the new Air Jordan III "Jokers" nicely.

There is no doubt that Schwings got their influence from the Adidas "Jeremy Scott Wings" sneakers.
